Sustainable Solutions for Mitigating Water Scarcity

Sustainable Solutions for Mitigating Water Scarcity

Water scarcity refers to the situation in which people face a shortage of fresh and clear water. Due to the water shortage, they cannot meet various essential needs such as drinking or domestic use. This issue affects many countries, especially developing countries as their water scarcity is directly linked to the water poverty index. So, the government has included rainwater harvesting in its policy to encourage people to use natural resources of water like rain

According to the United Nations (UN), approx. 1.8 and 4 billion people are expected to face absolute and severe water scarcity, respectively by 2025. In Africa, 1 out of 3 people is affected by water scarcity and soon the situation gets exacerbated due to population growth, climate change, and urbanisation. If this situation continues, more than 700 million people have to move globally by 2030.

Sustainable Solutions to tackle water scarcity

Are you feeling frustrated with managing your water scarcity problems? Does the impact of climate change have you feeling anxious? It’s time to take action with sustainable solutions like rainwater harvesting.

At Retas, we are committed to addressing water scarcity by capturing and utilizing rainwater efficiently. Our innovative tanks, crafted from recycled plastic waste using advanced technology, ensure every drop counts. With every installation, we are securing a sustainable future for generations to come.

What is modular rainwater harvesting?

Modular rainwater harvesting is the process of collecting and storing rainwater using modular technology. Under this technology, modular components are used such as plastic cubes or boxes to hold any volume of water. At Retas, we design and build RAINMAXX modular tanks from recycled polypropylene to store the rainwater precisely.

Our onsite engineers wrap these tanks with geotextile sheets to ensure their sturdiness. After proper installation and inspection, we proceed to the next steps and provide closure to rainwater harvesting systems.

Major Incentives For Rainwater Harvesting By the Government of India

While witnessing today’s climate changes and problematic situation of water resources, our Government are making policies to tackle the situation. Let’s go through the following schemes and take advantage of them:

  • Jal Shakti Abhiyan-I (JSA-I): This scheme was conducted in 2019 in 1,592 blocks out of 2,836 blocks in 256 water-stressed districts. In 2021, the scheme expanded as “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” with the theme “Catch the Rain Where it Falls When it Falls. ” It was meant to cover all the blocks of all districts from rural to urban areas across the country.
  • Atal Bhujal Yojana: It is a Central Sector Scheme with an outlay of Rs. 6,000 crore to cover water-stressed areas of 8,220 Gram Panchayats (GPs) under 229 blocks in 80 districts of 7 States viz. Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
  • In the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, rainwater harvesting is considered one of the prime components under activities under its Natural Resource Management (NRM).
  • On National Panchayati Raj Day, the Mission Amrit Sarovar was launched as a part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to conserve water for the future.

While moving ahead to conserve water, modular rainwater harvesting is one of the best practices to do. We can save rainwater that nobody thinks to store and make the best move for climate change. If you need to install rainwater harvesting in your building or society, contact our team for detailed information.
